By Seaman Daniel Schumacher, USS John C. Stennis Public Affairs
God bless you all and Be safe over there. Thank you and hurry home
CVN-74’s namesake, my grandfather John C. Stennis, smoked a long time ago, then quit as a young man in the 1930s. He used to tell the story of a fellow lawyer in Mississippi who scraped out his pipe in a bowl and the dog got into it, then the dog died. That’s when PaPaw quit. I, on the other hand, smoked until 9:15 p.m., Aug. 25, 2012—now, at almost three months smoke-free, support all the sailors of the USS John C. Stennis who want to quit. You can do it! John Stennis Syme, Davidson, NC
Great story sir, thanks for sharing.
