BREMERTON, Washington (July 19, 2017) Ship’s Serviceman Seaman Sherif Lyons, from Decatur, Georgia, receives payment from Personnel Specialist 1st Class Christopher Dell, from Wasilla, Alaska, for the first cup of coffee made in USS John C. Stennis’ (CVN 74) on board coffee shop, Java Johns, at its reopening as the ship approaches the end of its planned incremental availability (PIA). Services such as the barbershop, coffee shop, shipÕs store and galleys are returning for crew use for the first time since closing at the beginning of PIA to allow for maintenance and upgrades of the ship. John C. Stennis is conducting a PIA at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, during which the ship is undergoing scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
